Jamie Thraves is a British film writer and director known for his award-winning feature films and music videos. A graduate of the University of Hull and the Royal College of Art, Thraves began his career with acclaimed short films such as Scratch (1991) and I Just Want To Kiss You (1997), starring Martin Freeman which garnered international recognition.

In 1992, Thraves joined the Oil Factory, where he began his career going on to direct over 60 music videos for major artists, including Radiohead’s Just (1995) and Coldplay's The Scientist which won three MTV Video Music Awards in 2003 and was also nominated for a Grammy the same year. He was awarded with the Icon Award at the UK Music Video Awards in 2012.

Thraves made his feature debut with The Low Down (2000), starring Aidan Gillen, which premiered at Sundance and was later named one of The Observer's 50 Lost Movie Classics. His subsequent features include The Cry of the Owl (2009), an adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel starring Paddy Considine and Julia Stiles; Treacle Jr.(2010), which won the Hitchcock D’Or – Grand Jury Prize at Dinard; and Pickups (2018), which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival.

Thraves has also directed commercials for global brands such as Nike, Heineken, and Amnesty International. He is currently developing new feature projects and continues to direct music videos and mentor emerging filmmakers in the UK.
